Rich Tributes to Shri.K.Rammurti garu
Shri.K.Rammurti garu was born on 8/8/1912 in a postal family.
In his college days,he was associated with the functioning of Students Association.
When FPTU served a strike notice on 23/2/1946, strike to be commenced from 23/3/1946, to avoid the strike , Government appointed Justice Rajyadhaksha as Adjudicator. Shri .K.R. assisted the then leaders of FPTU namely Sri.Dewan Chamanlan and Dr.Naronha in preparing the detailed memorandum. He also attended as one of the witnesses to tender evidence. The award of the Adjudicator gave some benefits to the workers.
Late Sri.K.R. was responsible for bringing uniform scales for all the P& T employees and though the 1st Pay Commission did not do much for the P& T employees, it has definetily integrated on All India basis , pay scales of P& T employees.
KR was responsible for drafting the NFPTE Constitution . At that time , it was apprrciated by the later adversaries like Dada Ghosh , Om Prakash Gupta , etc..
Up to the formation of NFPTE , everybody praised and appreciated the services of KR in the formation of NFPTE.
When NFPTE was formed, there were only 2 unions for postal employees , one Class III and Group D.
At the All India Convention of ED employees held in Madras on 6/6/1954 , KR demanded for the appointment of E.D. Enquiry Committee. In this Convention , KR demanded a seperate ED Union.
Recognition for seperate ED Union was granted only on 10/10/1968 , that's too when KR formed new Postal Unions while coming out of NFPTE.
There was no security of service to GDS employees. With the efforts of KR , the following judgement made by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.
" That an enqiry should be held as in the case of regular employees if it is proposed to dismiss/ remove a ED from service and thus security of service was assured and whimsical dismissals were averted ".
Wage structure, service conditions and trade union rights of ED employees were projected in thr forum of ILO, when he attended the ILO Committee Meeting held at Genevs from 27th November to 5th December , 1984.
So, we conclude as follows
Late Rammurti deserves the respect and appreciation of P& T workers throughout the world.
